Shadow the Scientist

The Shadow the Scientist (StS) program is run by Professor Raja GuhaThakurta of the University of California Santa Cruz. OKH has teamed up with the StS team to bring you live zoom sessions where you can watch scientists perform actual experiments live. You can watch astronomers use the actual telescopes on Mauna Kea right here!

Check out the StS website for upcoming shadowing events and registration forms to sign up through!

‘Ohana Stargazing

ʻOhana Stargazing brings stargazing to communities near you! In partnership with the University of Hawaii’s Institute for Astronomy, the Thirty Meter Telesope, Stargazers of Hawaii, and local community groups around the state, we seek to provide families with a fun star-filled evening where they can share in the Hawaiian cultural tradition of stargazing by checking out starts and planets through telescopes and learning Native Hawaiian and international star stories and constellations.

We are also seeking local community partners interested in hosting a telescope themselves and learning how to put on star parties for their local communities.
